PHPA or Partially-hydrolyzed polyacrylamide acts as a functional additive to control wellbore shales or extend bentonite clay in a low-solids drilling mud. PHPA is known to seal microfractures and coat shale surfaces with a film that retards dispersion and disintegration. In low-solids muds, PHPA interacts with minimal concentrations of bentonite to link particles together and improve rheology without increased colloidal solids loading.
PHPA is a HMW anionic polymer viscosifier with a primarily use as a highly efficient fluid loss reducer, viscosifier and provide shale stabilization and shale control. It is a water-soluble polymer, which is primarily used as a highly efficient fluid loss reducer, viscosifier and protective colloid for shale’s and cutting in fresh water, calcium, sodium brines and KCl mud systems. It is compatible with most of the drilling fluid products, biopolymers, PAC, CMC etc.
Primarily used as a Shale Stabilizer, Viscosifier and Friction Reducer in solid free drilling fluid. It provides inhibition, lubricity, reduces friction in fresh water

Proper human safety products such as splash goggles, lab coat, NIOSH approved gloves and boots should be worn while handling and applying chemicals. Splashes on the skin should be washed off with water immediately. In case of splashing into the eyes, flush them with fresh water and obtain medical attention. Should not be injected.
