Polyamine based Corrosion Inhibitor

Polyamine, an organic compound with more than two amino groups. They generally have low molecular weight with highly charged atoms. Its physical and chemical behaviour makes it ideal for boiler treatment and metal surface treatment as a corrosion inhibitor.

Polyamines like EthyleneDiamine (EDA) control acidic corrosion in petroleum distillation tanks, wherein it is used in conjunction with a corrosion inhibitor. Polyamines form a layer on the metal surfaces which prevents the metal-ions to take part in any type of chemical reaction with corrosive agents thereby controlling corrosion. They also act as a sludge conditioner. Polyamine can substitute the use of amines and oxygen scavengers.

and Precautions

Proper human safety products such as safety glasses, gloves, apron, dust and vapor respirator should be worn while handling and applying chemicals. Splashes on the skin should be washed off with water immediately. In case of splashing into the eyes, flush them with fresh water and obtain medical attention. Should not be injected.
