Are Hand Sanitizers effective on Coronavirus?

Alcohol based Hand Sanitizers with Chlorhexidine Gluconate are effective on Corona Virus. The N-CoV is an enveloped virus which comes from the SARS CoV2 family. Why Alcohol based Hand Sanitizers?

How much alcohol should a hand sanitizer have for proper disinfection?

Is Hydrogen Peroxide in the Sanitizer good for the skin?

Over use of Hydrogen Peroxide may cause itching and burning sensation on the skin. It is advised to use Peroxide Free Hand Sanitizers if you feel itchiness of the skin

Is it flammable? Does it require any specific storage procedure?

Yes, it is flammable. Alcohol based products should not be sprayed on open flames, and kept away from any source of heat, flames and sparks.

What is CHG? Why has it been used?

CHG or Chlorhexidine Gluconate is added to alcohol making it extremely potent by enhancing the kill rate. CHG is often used in mouth wash, wound cleaning and surgical hand washing. It also enhances the spreading of hand rub.

After using this product, do we have to wash our hands?

What if it gets splashed on our eyes or if we consume accidentally?

Why should we prefer QACs?

QACs show tremendous efficacy over vegetative bacteria and enveloped viruses such as corona and help in preventing the spread and replication within seconds of application


Where can it be used and how?

Safe to use in closed indoor spaces for fumigation. Recommended for infected areas and/ heavy traffic indoor areas.


Will not it cause skin irritation or allergic reactions if sprayed on humans directly?

Like any other disinfectants, direct spraying on human skin may be irritating, it is advised to refrain public from fumigated areas, and to wear fully covered clothes during the process.


How much to use?

"For Critical Area Disinfection/ Areas prone to human contact, use 15 ml ALSTASAN LF125 in 1ltr water. For Non-Critical Areas use 7.5ml in 1ltr water. For Aerial Fumigation: 30ml ALSTASAN LF125 in 1ltr water and fumigated with ULV fogger."


Will such low dosage rate work?

Product is specialized for cost effective dosage, and QACs are effective at low dosages.

Pre-evacuation of humans required?

Can it kill all types of bacteria and viruses?

ALSTASAN SILVOX 150 has proven efficacy against Gram positive & negative bacteria, fungi, yeasts, spores, sheathed & unsheathed viruses, amoebae, protozoa, biofilms.

How does Alstasan Silvox 150 disinfect?

ALSTASAN SILVOX 150 works on contact basis. Hydrogen Peroxide is a rapid oxidizing agent and damages cell structures of microorganisms, forbidding any chances of further replication. The antimicrobial silver provide residual antimicrobial activity.

How effective is it?

Application of ALSTASAN SILVOX 150 ensures rapid disinfection against harmful microorganisms within short contact time, communicable or non-communicable.

Can it be used in drinking water treatment?

Alstasan Silvox is certified by FDA (Food and Drug Administration), and approved by NTC (National Toxicology Center), SGS, CE etc. According to the EEC, WHO, and the USEPA silver hydrogen peroxide poses no harmful threats to humans. Even France, Germany, Switzerland and Australia have approved silver based hydrogen peroxide for drinking water sanitation.

What if silver nitrate was not added?

ALSTASAN SILVOX 150 is odourless in nature and does not add or alter taste in the used medium.

Is it corrosive?

Hydrogen Peroxide can be irritating on skin, and causes temporary whitening effect. Wash with soap and cold water, and apply a moisturizer.

Why Silver Hydrogen Peroxide instead of conventional Aldehyde, Formalin?

Typical fumigants include mostly formaldehyde, chlorine, etc. Formaldehyde is slow acting, and has poor penetration into cornered spaces. Also toxic causing burning sensations, pulmonary oedema, and pneumonitis upon prolonged exposure. Glutaraldehyde has adverse health effects such as nausea, eye and skin irritation.

Is ALSTASAN SILVOX 150 safe to be used at Critical Areas of Hospitals and Health Care Units? What is the maximum time required for disinfection?

ALSTASAN SILVOX 150 is to be sprayed for 60-90 seconds on application area and kept undisturbed for 2-3 minutes before re-entry. It's safe at use concentration of 1-2% even having anyone in the room during spraying. Higher concentration of 20% requires higher time, only necessary for OT and ICCU, not for OPDs and Clinics

Is DETPOL a soap or detergent?

DETPOL is not soap – it's a Syndet (SYNthetic DETergent.) These synthetic detergents are less drying and less damaging to skin proteins. They have a stronger cleansing action than soaps and are more soluble in water than soaps. The charged ends of detergents do not form insoluble precipitates with calcium and magnesium ions in hard water.


Any specific intervals or time for handwashing?

You can wash your hands whenever possible. Few key times include after contact with a sick person; after coughing, sneezing, or blowing your nose; after touching potentially infected surfaces, such as laptops or doorknobs; before eating; and after using the bathroom. Using Alcohol based Surface Disinfectant is highly recommended to sanitize frequently touched surfaces. ALSTACOL 25+ is highly effective to kill virus.

How does ALSTASAN SILVOX 150 MIST disinfect?

Both have their own range of applications, ALSTASAN SILVOX 150 MIST being mostly for household enclosed spaces and ALSTASAN SILVOX 150 for critical areas, hospitals, etc.
