Overview

Glycol Antifreeze is classified as a range of organic compounds that are widely used as an antifreeze in automobile cooling systems and various combustion engines and other heat transfer applications. Glycol Based Antifreeze can be regarded as Corrosion Inhibited Ethylene Glycol based heat transfer fluids which can be used as an industrial / engine coolant and antifreeze agent. The inhibitor package is designed to protect brass, copper, solder, steel, cast iron, aluminum alloys and other components such as rubber hoses, gaskets, rubber seals, plastic components etc., that are commonly found in the cooling and heating systems and in engine and radiator.

Working and Importance:

Considered as an agent that decreases the freezing point of a water-based liquid, Antifreeze can be used to increase the boiling point to allow higher coolant temperature. Water is the cheapest coolant owing to its good coolant properties but avoided because of its tendency to alter the physical and chemical properties of the metal surfaces. Antifreeze helps in protecting water chambers from rupture during expansion due to its freezing.
